Leaks from a reliable source indicate that AMD's upcoming Zen 5 architecture will offer a huge performance increase of up to 40% compared to the current Zen 4 architecture.
According to leaker Kepler__L2, these results were achieved on the popular SPEC testbed, where the next-generation single core showed a marked outperformance over current-generation processors. However, it was not clarified whether this increase represents an average performance or a maximum difference.
If these results are confirmed, it will be a quantum leap in performance that we have not seen since the days of the first generation Zen 1 architecture, which provided an increase of up to 52% versus Excavator processors from the Bulldozer architecture.
The Zen 5 architecture will be used in a range of desktop processor series such as Granite Ridge and mobile processors such as Strix point/Halo.
These leaks raise questions about what to expect from the next architecture updates, such as 3DV-Cash and Zen5c processors.
