A new report from Windows Central revealed that Microsoft is working on a new update for Windows 11 that will enable the system to install updates without the need to restart devices.
The new feature will depend on a new method called Hot Patching. This method replaces the process code while Windows is running without the need to stop it or restart the device or system. Microsoft already relies on this feature in a number of its products, most notably Xbox and some versions of Windows Server.
Relying on this method to install updates does not mean that you will not restart your device again to install any update. Microsoft plans to rely on this method of sending security updates, and users need to reboot their devices at least once every two to three months.
This feature will be very useful for people who use their devices for long periods of time, such as camera security monitors or even cybersecurity, and for traders and owners of small personal servers.
Microsoft is expected to launch the new feature to users in the Windows 11 24H2 update, which is expected to be available during the second half of this year.
It is noteworthy that Windows updates are among the worst that users have faced in many years. In addition to the malfunctions that affect many programs and hardware drivers, users are surprised by restarting their devices without prior warning to install a new update. This has become almost mandatory since the launch of Windows 10 9 years ago, while Microsoft sometimes claims to improve the user experience and at other times that users do not care about setting work times on their devices.
It's a good idea I like it
